Pursuant to the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) 2016/679 of April 27, 2016, we inform that the administrator of personal data is the Institute of Computer Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences with its registered office in Warsaw (10-248) at 5 Jana Kazimierza Str. Data are collected for the needs of current recruitment and taking action before the conclusion of the contract, and in the case of expressing an explicit and voluntary consent by the applicant also for the needs of future recruitment. Applicants have the right to access their data and correct it. Providing data in the scope specified by the provisions of the Act of 26 June 1974. Associate Professor position
at the Department of Theoretical Foundations of Computer Science

(starting date: 2018-09-01, or by agreement as soon as possible)

Qualifications requested and eligibility:

The candidates should have the degree of Doctor Habilitatus or the equivalent, and are expected to demonstrate significant achievements in the following areas:

  • Cryptography, in particular in
    • design of cryptographic algorithms (symmetric block ciphers, public-key ciphers and hash functions) and
    • analysis of modern cryptographic algorithms (symmetric block and stream ciphers and hash functions), as well as
    • design of cryptographic protocols (multiparty computations, secret sharing).

The applicant should include his/her:

  1. Cover letter
  2. a copy of Dr. habil diploma,
  3. curriculum vitae (CV),
  4. a list of publications and copies of some recent publications.

PhD student scholarship

in the multidisciplinary
Computational Biology Lab

Applications deadline 2018-07-16. Application should be marked “CB opening PhD stipend”. Notification of results of the competition: 2018-08-06. Starting date: from 2018-09-01, or by agreement on another date.

Due to the multidisciplinary character of research conducted in the Lab, there are welcome young persons committed to becoming excellent researchers and having the skills and some experience in one (or more) of such domains: statistics, machine learning, data processing and analysis as well as biology, chemistry.

Qualifications requested and eligibility:

  • Master of Science in one of the following: Computer Science, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, or one of the like scientific disciplines; final-year students are also welcome, provided their MSc Thesis defences will take place by 2018-09-30.
  • The candidate should have good communication skills and excellent study merits, and good skills in oral and written English.

The candidate should also have:

  • good skills and some experience in data analysis with statistical/machine learning tools;
  • knowledge of script languages used in statistical analysis e.g. R/RStudio/Python;
  • knowledge of one or more programming languages (C/C++/C#/Java etc.);
  • basic experience in administration of Linux OS.

The following specific qualifications are welcome but not required:
Knowledge of:

  • molecular biology, genetics in particular;
  • learning database structures and retrieving information from databases.
